Amanda Makepeace

So many artists whose work I can get lost in, but so few whom I actually know... Well, I only know one, online, and although we are very different, in certain ways she is almost like my twin. I've known Amanda online for going on two years now, and she is an artist. And damn. I'd love to have an ounce of her talent. She's come a long way even in the short time I've known her. Not bad, since her work astounded me even back then.

"Celestial Highway" - one of my favourites

An American by birth, transplanted to the UK for a number of years, and now back home in the US, Amanda produces both dreamy and charming pieces of art. She's had shows in galleries in London, and now has been doing a bit of home-based work, doing quite remarkably, I must say... And while I'm guessing there will be much silliness and drivel contained in this blog eventually, the first post goes to her, to Amanda. Oh, and she also does web design, and seemingly quite a lot of it.

Amanda's already got a couple of pages on Facebook, with a modest but quite impressed and not unimpressive cluster of fans, and she continues to build up her little base of admirers. But just when I thought I'd seen the best of her work -- the beautiful skyscapes, nighttime swirls of colour and wonder; the astounding detail of the most marvelous tiny pieces of earth and earth's gifts which you might in reality otherwise miss; the alarming clarity and her vision of light and shadow in her photography... Then came the frogs. Oh, the frogs... They must be seen to be really appreciated.
